Owen Johnson is an Associate Professor at the University of Leeds and a senior leader in medical AI, serving as Co-Director of the Leeds CDT in AI for Medical Diagnosis and Care. His research focuses on using AI and health informatics to optimise NHS care pathways and support the safe deployment of AI in healthcare.

Dr Sharib Ali is an Associate Professor at the University of Leeds and founder of the AI in Medicine and Surgery (AIMS) group. A world-leading researcher in medical computer vision, he has been recognised among the Elsevier–Stanford World’s Top 2% Scientists (2023–2025) and leads cutting-edge research in AI-driven imaging, endoscopy, and surgical technologies.

Dr David Marples is a clinician–scientist at the University of Leeds with over 30 years’ experience in academic medicine, physiology, and medical education. Trained in medicine and physiology at Oxford, he brings a strong interdisciplinary perspective through formal training in computer science and work at the interface of artificial intelligence and healthcare.
